Herron School of Art and Design

Jewelry Design/ Metalsmithing

Herron School of Art and Design decided after many years of not having a jewelry class to try it again after moving to the new building. Our first semester of class consisted of only cold connections as we were without torches. Students had to not only design their work but engineer connection points as well. Three semesters later, several of those original students are still with us and some planning to transfer on to four-year programs.

What is the future of Herron Jewelry Design? I want to see it become a full four-year program with a wait list of students. Competing and winning in national and international design competitions. Our equipment resources are limited. However, students are producing amazing, well designed, and well crafted works.
