Designing in metal and other materials

WS-102-A Saturday (10am-2pm)*working lunch September 20th

Cost per student: 50.00

Course Objectives:

Stop wasting your silver on designs you are not happy with!!!!

This class is designed to teach basic design elements such as use of pattern, layering, repetition, color and more in a relaxed setting. I will have many handouts and examples to show how all of these elements are incorporated into an incredible piece of jewelry. We will also address questions such as "What gauge should I use for this process?" and any other questions I've heard about designing in metal over the years. Students are encouraged to send me their own questions early so that I can have solution examples ready to show in class.

I will even show you how to build a model of your work in heavy paper to help answer construction questions.....I swear it works!

I teach color and design at a major university to interior design students and it's great to watch students see how they can apply common design to their everyday life.

*this is only a design class

Fantastic Silver Chains

offered by special request only

Course Objectives:

In this class we will explore the many ways a chain can be constructed. A chain doesn't have to be made only of thin wire. We will explore wire wrapping, chain mail, making small forms and connecting them with rings. If you want to learn about ways to create fantastic chain pieces to be worn as necklaces or bracelets, you will love this class. We will practice with copper, and then move to silver.  Students will complete several samples and a silver bracelet using a newly learned technique. Metals background is helpful but not necessary.
